Toyota presents the new Corolla Sedan, which joins the 12th generation Corolla range. The European public saw for the first time a Toyota compact at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2018, where Corolla Hatchback made her debut. Then, the premiere of Corolla Touring Sports (wagon) at the Paris trade fair in October this year.

The new Corolla family has been designed to respond to the various needs of drivers and their passengers. The compact Hatchback was created for young couples, the spacious estate Touring Sports - about families, while the Sedan is the perfect car for young managers and specialists who combines a prestigious style with a spacious, comfortable interior.

Toyota Corolla is the most-bought car in the world, available in over 150 countries. It is also the most popular model in the history of motoring - since its debut in 1966, it achieved a total sales of over 46 million copies.

The design of the new Sedan is a more prestigious, elegant interpretation of the dynamic style of the 12th generation Corolla. Corolla owes its wide, strong silhouette with a reduced center of gravity to the TNGA platform. The Under Priority Catamaran concept has evolved from the front, emphasizing the two-level edge of the mudguard on both sides of the grill. The narrow upper grill has been extended with full LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights. In the rear of the body, the characteristic lights of the sedan are highlighted with chrome trim. Both front and rear reflectors receive a modern finish in the form of LED strips.

Corolla Sedan has the same spacious, ergonomic interior as Hatchback and Touring Sports. It is distinguished by high, sensory quality and advanced technology. The sedan has an extended wheelbase of 2,700 mm, similar to Touring Sports, so that the rear passengers have plenty of leg room.

Modern technological solutions in the interior include wireless phone charger, intuitive, easy-to-use display set with 8-inch touch screen multimedia system, 7-inch information screen and 10-inch color Head-up Display.

The GA-C TNGA series gives designers greater freedom than ever before, which is why differences in the Corolla Sedan, Hatchback and Touring Sports design are greater than in the case of previous models available with several types of body. What's more, TNGA technology provides a more pleasant driving experience. The lower center of gravity, the 60% stiffer body and the multi-link suspension in the standard contribute to the fact that the car is stable and steady, while ensuring high comfort on uneven surfaces.

Hybrid and gasoline engine
The new Corolla Sedan will be available with two drives. The hybrid system with a 1.8 liter gasoline engine, which does not require charging from an external network, has a power of 122 hp. Corolla in this version is quiet, dynamic and easy to use - it is enough to refuel at a gas station to use the electric motor itself for half the time of driving and distance covered. Hybrid Corolla means low operating costs and very low fuel consumption at the level of 3.4 l / 100 km according to NEDC (4.3 l / 100 km according to WLTP, car at the time of approval). The car emits an average of 77 g / km, CO2 according to NEDC (98 g / km according to WLTP), allowing up to 50% ride on the electric motor itself during daily driving.

The improved 1.6-liter gasoline engine combines fast response to acceleration with high efficiency. This unit is available with a 6-speed manual transmission or with a continuously variable CVT automatic transmission. Its power is 132 hp (97 kW), and the average fuel consumption is 5.8 l / 100 km according to NEDC (6.1 l / 100 km according to WLTP). The car in this configuration emits 131 g / km, NEDC CO2 (139 g / km according to WLTP).

All cars designed in the TNGA architecture stand out in terms of passive and active safety. The new Corolla is no exception - it has a very rigid body that protects passengers in the cabin and is standard equipped with the latest, second generation Toyota Safety Sense active safety systems. The package includes an extensive version of the Pre-Car Collision Prevention System (PCS) with daytime and overnight pedestrian detection and detection of cyclists at daylight, intelligent active cruise control (IACC), Lane Departure Warning System (LDA), road signs recognition system with more functions (RSA) and automatic switching between low beam and road lights (AHB). The lane assistant (LTA) also joins the package. It can be started when the active cruise control is active. The system controls the driving path with delicate interference in the steering wheel position, so that the car moves in the middle of the lane, even on the curves of the road.

Corolla Sedan in the European specification will be manufactured at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey factory. The model will go on sale in the first quarter of 2019.
